Public Administration Master’s Degree

Writing instructions

I am applying for Public Administration Master’s degree offered by George Mason University. Currently I work as an intake officer at the Juvenile and Domestic Relations district court since 2018. I graduated from Law school in Khartoum, Sudan in 2006. Practiced law in Sudan from 2007 to 2011. In my job I file petitions for custody visitation child and spousal support as well as protective orders. I am identified leader within the unit. I train interns and new employees. I earned two awards in 2019 and 2020. I connect clients with the resources available for them through the county. I am seeking this MPA program to prepare me for a supervisory role within the county with the focus of enhancing the public services. Little background about me, In 2017 I came to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District court for the first time. I came as a client. I was seeking to get custody of my son. As a mother, the process was complicated and overwhelming; however, as an immigrant it was difficult to navigate the legal system and have all the resources, I needed available and accessible. I decided then that I will not thrive and overcome this stressful time, I will also help others and make it easier for them to navigate the system and get all the help they need especially Africans and Middle eastern communities. Currently I set on the same office I came to as a client in 2017, but this time I am the intake officer
