  2. Background of the Problem and Problem Statement

Purpose Statement: Investigate the impact of attachment on economic and social growth

Problem statement

Attachment allows children secure bases necessary to discover, learn and relate, and improve their wellbeing. It is critical for safety, emotional regulation, adaptability, and resilience.  Weak parent to child attachment affects children psychological, behavioural, and development wellbeing.  Secure students have  prosocial behavior,  show better cognitive skills and empathic capacities in the classroom and receive better evaluations from teachers and in learning tests (Zarella et al., 2018). The problem is that a child with poor attachment performs dismally in school resulting in poor economic and social growth. According to Glowdowska (2017), the level of education and a country’s economic growth are related in the sense that states with low education levels are economically poor while those with higher level of education record higher growth in their economy.

Change Matrix: Week 3 Feedback

A reflective practitioner looks back at the work they do, and the work process, and considers how they can improve: they reflect on the work they have done. The revision matrix provides the opportunity to exercise being a reflective practitioner during the doctoral journey. Critical thinking, a necessary skill for scholarly writing, incorporates the need to be a reflective practitioner as learning from personal experiences, as well as others, helps to answer the questions: Can anything be improved, can anything be done better?

Review the feedback from your instructor and record the instructor’s feedback in the first column, in the second column state in your own words the feedback provided, and in the third column state what you have done to address the feedback and include APA Manual page numbers as appropriate.

Week 4: Alignment of Problem and Purpose Statements

Provide an explanation of how your purpose statement aligns with the problem statement.

The purpose statement is to investigate the impact of parent attachment on economic and social growth. The purpose statement aligns with the problem statement in the sense that education increases promote the economic growth of an individual and a country as a whole. People with higher levels of education can access well-paying jobs and tend to earn stable salaries. By earning an income, a person contributes to the economic growth of a country. Individuals with a higher level of education are also creative and innovative; they come up with new ways of solving social problems such as ending extreme poverty and disease and improving the welfare of others. In addition, highly educated individuals maintain positive social relationships.

For a child to perform better in class, they must be confident,  have good cognitive skills, social to strengthen the relationship between them and the teacher, and aggressive. However, these skills and capabilities largely depend on the relationship between children and their parents. Children who are securely attached as infants tend to develop stronger self-esteemand better self-reliance as they grow older. They are also self-reliant, have better cognitive skills, have successful social relationships, and experience less depression and anxiety. These children tend to perform better in class.

Conversely, children with weak attachment are aggressive, anti-social, have poor emotional regulation strategies, and perform dismally in school. They are also likely to develop mental health problems such as oppositional defiant disorders (ODD), conduct disorders (CD), and drop out of school at some stage in their life. When children with poor attachment drop out of school, their chances of securing better-paying jobs reduce significantly; in most cases, they engage in criminal behaviors and drug abuse. High-paying jobs require excellent academic performance and skills. Low academic qualifications confine individuals to casual jobs that are unreliable and unpredictable in terms of wages.

States that have a low level of education, such as those in Africa, are less innovative and largely depend on old production methods. Individuals with mental health problems are less social. They often isolate themselves and display negative thought patterns.

The purpose statement is linked to the problem statement in the sense that weak attachment leads to poor performance in school, consequently leading to the low social and economic growth of an individual and as a country as a whole.
